Nurturing supportive relationships, building confidence, and creating a strong sense of belonging across the school community is a key focus for our school through the Buddies Program.
Fostering Friendships & Belonging
The Buddies Program at WWPS is a highly valued initiative that supports students as they build connections and feel a strong sense of belonging within the school community. As part of the program, each Prep student is paired with a Grade 5 buddy, creating a supportive relationship from the very beginning of their school journey.
This is a very exciting opportunity that Grade 5 students eagerly look forward to, as it allows them to take on a leadership role and act as positive role models for younger students. Through this partnership, Prep students have a familiar and friendly face within the school, someone they can turn to for support, guidance, or reassurance, particularly in the school yard.
Buddy classes meet once a week throughout the entire year, taking part in a range of shared activities. These regular interactions help to strengthen relationships, build confidence, and create a caring and inclusive school environment where all students feel supported and connected.
