School Council
The WWPS School Council is a representative body comprising the principal, school staff, parents, and members of the wider community. Parent representatives play a vital role, making up more than one-third of the council’s total membership. These members are elected by the parents and guardians of students currently enrolled at the school, ensuring that the parent voice is strongly reflected in the council’s work. School staff are also represented, contributing their professional knowledge and experience to support informed decision-making.
The School Council meets eight times per year to discuss and make decisions that guide the direction of the school. Its core responsibility is to support the effective and efficient governance of the school, including involvement in key school decisions and financial decisions. This may involve overseeing budgets, allocating resources, and ensuring that funding is used in ways that best support student learning and school priorities.
In all of its work, the council is committed to ensuring that decisions are made with the best interests of students as the primary consideration. It also seeks to enhance the educational opportunities available to all students by supporting initiatives, programs, and policies that contribute to a positive and enriching learning environment. Through collaboration between school staff, parent representatives, and the broader community, the School Council helps strengthen the school and promote student success.
